Just on two years ago AISA, the Arsenal Independent Supporters Association, voted to set up a division of the association with the view to exploring and promoting an awareness of Arsenal’s history.
In those two years amazing things have happened. This web site has grown and grown, and through it we have found out more about Arsenal’s history than ever before.
Acting on behalf of AISA I’ve had a conversation with Ivan Gazidis on the topic of Arsenal history and how the club should celebrate it, and found him very receptive to the notions put forward.
We’ve also exposed some of the false thinking that has previously gone into Arsenal’s past, and with the support and help of many fans I have managed to produce a book “Making the Arsenal” which explores Arsenal in 1910 – our pivotal year. In the next couple of weeks this book will appear in the Arsenal shops and Arsenal on line store for the first time – another step forwards.
This season there is another development with the launch of the Arsenal Uncovered series in the club programme for each home match, which I am delighted to have the chance to write.
Now, there is even more.
The Annual General Meeting of the Arsenal Independent Supporters’ Association will take place at Emirates Stadium on Monday 8th August. And although the highlight will of course be the Q&A with Mr Ivan Gazidis, Arsenal’s Chief Executive, there is one other item tucked into the agenda that I would like to announce here: the proposal to establish AISA Arsenal History Society as a body in its own right, associated of course with AISA itself.
This is a great step forwards, as it shows how much Arsenal Independent Supporters Association, as the recognised organisation for UK Arsenal supporters, values the work done on this site and through our other channels, in uncovering Arsenal’s true history.
