Whatever happened to Lukas Podolski?

Lukas Podolski played for Bayern Munich and FC Koln before joining Arsenal in 2012, playing 60 games and scoring 19 goals before going on loan to Inter Milan in 2015.   He then played for Galatasaray, Vissel Kobe and is now with Antalyaspor in Turkey.  Between 2004 and 2017 he played 130 times for Germany scoring 49 goals.

He has created the Lukas Podolski Foundation for Sport and Education which supports socially disadvantaged young people, fights child poverty, promotes social inclusion and integration.   And he is also an ambassador of the Christian Children’s Fund including a daycare centre for children in a particularly challenging part of Warsaw.

Apparently he also owns an ice cream parlour and a kebab shop in Cologne.

11 March 1911 George Burdett’s first match at home to Everton (a 1-0 win).  He played 10 of the remaining 11 games that season and his arrival coincided with the team’s reversal in fortunes for the club as previously the club had only won three games in 14 league matches.

11 March 1915: Following the sinking of HMS Bayano by a Uboat with almost all the crew lost, rumours started to circulate that the League was going to stop for the duration of the war at the end of the season.  It didn’t however, despite a vigorous campaign to stop football led by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.

11 March 2017: Arsenal beat Lincoln 5-0 in the FA Cup sixth round.to set up Arsenal’s 29th semi-final appearance in the competition – an all time record.  There was also the first talk of Mr Wenger becoming the most prolific FA Winner of all time, rather than just of the modern age.
