Why are Arsenal targeting Mudryk?

It looks as though Premier League side Arsenal are set to win the race to sign Ukrainian international winger Mykhailo Mudryk from Shakhtar Donetsk in the upcoming January transfer window. Arsenal are in the hunt for reinforcements to ensure they stay at the top of the league after the world cup break, and the Ukrainian wonderkid could be the perfect fit.

The initial asking price from Shaktar was £90,000,000.00, which was even a shock to Mudryk who thought it was too much, but according to reports, the new valuation and asking price is said to be somewhere in the region of £40,000,000.00.

How well are Arsenal doing at the moment?

Arsenal are currently flying high in the Europa League and in the domestic Premier League. They topped Group A in Europa League, and they are currently sitting at the top of the English Premier League. Who is Mykhailo Mudryk?

Mykhailo Mudryk is a 21-year-old footballer who currently plays as the number 10 at club level for Shakhtar Donetsk in the Ukrainian Premier League. The right-footed winger was born in Krasnograd, Ukraine, in January 2001. He started his youth career at Metalist Kharkiv from 2010 to 2014 and then spent from 2014 to 2016 at Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk before arriving at Donetsk.

In 2018, he moved up to the senior team, and then in 2019, he had a brief 10-game loan spell at Arsenal Kyiv and a 10-game loan spell at Desna Chernihiv in 2021. He made his international debut for Ukraine U16 in 2016. He has also played for the U17s, U19s, and U21s, and he has played for the Ukraine men’s senior team since April 2021. So far, he has played eight times for his country, impressing in most appearances, which is why Arteta has taken a keen interest in the formidable player.
